Why do you need both Blues Jr and Champ? Does Champ give you something that Blues Jr can not provide?

"Need"?!

HA ha.. Need has very little to do with buying guitar gear.
Actually I've been playing in the store with both of these amps and loving both of them. I couldn't decide which one to get, but because of the price that I paid for the guitar, I was able to afford both. I'll end up selling whichever one I like least to purchase more gear. :)

With the Am Special though, I am actually at a point where I am not GASing for other guitars, so I can focus on finding a good tone that I like in an amp.

I see..I see..

I'm going to buy Blues Jr as well. I have enough this "modeled" sound from my Mustang.

Good point, man! "Need," as you said, has nothing to do with it at all. I've played since sometime in the mid-70's (don't recall the exact year) and over those years I have owned a lot of amps, traded and/or sold off a bunch of them. Nowadays I find myself having become an amplifier collector of sorts. Some people can't throw out old vacations souvenirs, etc. -- well, I can't throw away amplifiers, it seems. After I retired, two years ago, I was amazed at how many amps I've managed to accumulate since the mid-90's. At present I own: A 1996 Marshall 65 watt Valvestate (which I'm currently trying to resurrect from several years of collecting dust in my basement), my beloved 1998 Blues Jr., an old Fender Frontman practice amp, a Peavy Solo, portable guitar/microphone PA system, a Roland Cube Street stereo guitar/vocal amp, with many built-in effects, my new Fender G-Dec3 Thirty (which I'm still learning how to use), an old headphone practice amp, which allows you to play along with cassette tapes, and two tiny little Danelectro Honeytone mini-amps (which are the approximate size of a CD case and are unbelievably LOUD!!).

And though logic tells me I should sell or trade some of them off, somehow I just can't!!

And I forgot to mention that I'm also currently looking for a smaller size (one that won't give me a hernia lugging it around) extension cabinet that has the proper specs and impedance to allow me to use my Blues Jr. as an amp "head."

You're really dating yourself with this comment. :D My, haven't we come along way with respect to music reproduction media. Of course, I still have a nice cassette tape AND album collection so that just goes to show how old I am too.

I turned 60 in early May. And I still own a couple of cassette player/recorders that still work fine, but they collect dust, along with the play-along headphone amp, because my MP3 player and CD players have replaced them. I may have some age on the younger crowd, but I keep up pretty well. LOL May donate those old relics to a museum someday!!
