Hi,
I am thinking of purchasing this guitar as i tried the American Strat Deluxe at my local shop and fell in love with it. however, the didnt have the HSS version so i have to order it. I was just wondering, are the locking tuners/Roller Nuts good? I intend on using the tremolo a bit, not doing intense dive bombs but moderate use. Also, they did have a standard american HSS which is another one i tried and i thought the pickups were good but didnt like the body. Are the AM DLX HSS pickups better or similar? Also, compared to the Highway 1 HSS, what are the main differences? THey didnt have this one at my shop either but the price difference is quite noteable. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!!! :D

hss vs. the regular is that the hss has a humbucker in the bridge- makes it better for music with distortion etc.

highway ones are mainly american with u.s. bodies necks and maybe a few other things but have mexican hardware and pickups. the pickups are good though and they are assembled in the U.S.

look at the specs pages on the website for exact technical differences.

any more questions just ask. hope i helped!

I have a am deluxe with three SNC pickups. I love everything about it. Especially the locking shaller tuners.

I recently got Strobosoft Deluxe. I'll tune the guitar using the Strobosoft and check the guitar a week or do later and it's still in tune!

Being an owner of a 2004 American Deluxe HSS, it is a great guitar when you can only take one electric to a gig. The DH 1 humbucker, in the bridge position, is very much like a Seymour Duncan JB character wise. HSS format vs. a full set of SCN pickups? Both will give you excellent distortion/overdrive tone; however, when it comes to clean tones, the DH 1 can lack edge and openness.
The LSR roller nut used in conjunction with the stock Schaller locking tuners and the Deluxe Trem bridge, are the best system short of a full-blown Floyd Rose system. I added a Hipshot Tremsetter, available from Fender, to further improve the performance of the trem system.
In my opinion, the only way to top the Fender Deluxe Strat HSS & the rest of the American Deluxe series of Strats, is either consider a Jeff Beck Strat, or a Fender Custom Shop Strat.
