Anyone know why the neckplate on my 2010 Am. Deluxe says "Fender USA"? I know it's legit, bought it from MF, but all the other American Fender neckplates I've seen have said "Fender Corona, California."

I e-mailed Fender about it and the serial checks out, but no answer on the neckplate question. I thought somebody here might have an answer. Everything else about the guitar is exactly as you'd expect. Thanks if you can shine some light on this.

In all seriousness please repost the photo on this forum; it appears that you have to be a Strat Talk member to see the one you linked.

Well, it looks exactly like this:

I did some more research and this is the neckplate used on Toronados and the Jeff Beck Strats. How it got on my Deluxe is still a total mystery...

I believe Fender just keeps the neck plates in large bins; sounds like the assembler just grabbed one of the "Fender USA" plates by accident, used it on your guitar, and no one in quality control caught it. Alternatively, Fender could have run short of the angled "Fender Corona California" plates at the time your guitar was built so instead of holding up production they used the older "Fender USA" neck plate as a substitute.
