I saw the Strat XII having a different headstock shape than the original Electric XII hockey-stick, though the Custom Shop produced 6/12-string double neck Strats with the hockey-stick headstock design of the late 1960s.

If Fender decides to reissue the Strat XII for the third time, they should include the late 1960s hockey-stick design.

I would love to have one of those, regardless of the headstock shape...after seeing Gordy Johnson of Grady playing SLIDE on a 12-string electric, it went on my mental G.A.S. list.

PFFFFFFFFFFFFT!

A hockey-stick headstock on a 12-string Strat would require a special case.

The "new" headstock design selected for the MIJ Strat XII's permits the guitar to fit into a standard G&G case.

If you actually owned one, you'd know this.

I never owned a Strat XII, though I saw Doyle Bramhall II playing a 3-tone sunburst upside-down.

Personally I would put an Electric XII neck into a Strat XII body rather than purchasing a brand-new expensive instrument. Not sure if the Electric XII neck could fit properly.

Well I owned one and didn't know that! It came with a gig bag. I do know that Fender made the Strat XII with a 25.5" scale but the earlier version had a 24.75" scale. I wonder if a 24.75" scale with hokey stick headstock might fit the standard G&G case. I expect the neck support in the case would need to be moved.

I had the Lake Placid Blue 25.5" Strat XII and it was fine but I preferred a couple of other electric XII's that I have - the Gretsch 6122-12 and an old 1966 Ventures Model Mosrite XII. I eventually sold the Strat XII. -Marty

FYI, Retroverbial has sadly moved on from here a little while ago, maybe one day he will show back up
