hey guys,

so i've been searching since september for a Yngwie Malmsteen stratocaster with the white body and maple neck but have yet to find one, pretty much anywhere...

i found one a few others away which was sonic blue and rosewood board at a guitar store which was the updated model with deeper scallopes played it any loved it! however, not the right colour...

did they make considerably less of the YJM strats than other models? or is it just that they may not have sent many to the UK, even ebay is empty of US YJM's.

if anyone has any info it will be much appreciated as always!

Cheers,

Larsson

I never thought about this, but I have traveled all over Europe and a fair bit of the US on business and always find time to go guitar store hunting, and I have not once ran across an YJM model in a store (or Pawnshop for that matter). I am guessing either they didn't make many or the people who bought like em enough to not part with them?

I saw one when they first came out in a music store in florida and to be honest I didn't like it, but I am a bit hamfisted when it comes to playing so could not keep anything in tune on it...FWIW

i like them and they play great. i just dont like him lol.
i also suggest you try the ritchie blackmore strat as well.
the scallops arent as deep as the YJM guitar and i think it plays better.

Also of note is the dismal trade in/resale value in contrast to what the original owners overpaid for them. Many owners simply won't unload them up for such a low price. Of note too is the fact that there is only a handful of people for whom this model appeals to. Speaking for myself and I'm sure MANY others, all it represents is a beat up, late 60s RI Strat with laterally different pickups and a totally destroyed fingerboard.

As always, this is merely IMO where YMMV.

There's one on ebay.co.uk right now. "Mint " & vintage white. BIN price £700 or offers.
Don't know how to link other sites on here yet so it's auction number is 120731263294.
Warwickshire, uk.
Not my cup of tea but it's a cool colour.

(Oops, just noticed it's not a YJM but an American Std guitar upgraded with YJM pickups.
No scalloped fretboard.)

pup are easy to change. i base my buys on how a guitar feels, not what it sounds like.
