I have been looking at a new American Standard strat in a local store. I like the way it feels, sounds and plays except that one of the tone knobs sticks at the full on position. It is like it drops into a groove and almost clicks. It takes a firm 2 finger grip to get it to start to move and once it does it is still stiff.

I haven't played any other Am standard strats, but I know that both tone knobs on my MIM strat are easy to adjust. This guitars serial number starts with an 8 so that means it is an 2008 or 2009 right?

Anyway, the price on this guitar is $999, but I'm thinking if the tone knob needs to be replaced and it has been in the store for awhile I could get it for less. Or is this a reason not to buy this particular guitar?

P.S. I would really like to try an Am Deluxe but I can't find a store anywhere around that has one.

Sounds like a Delta Tone.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

Yes, Delta Tone system no-load pot. The indent position at 10 is the point at which the tone pot is removed from the circuit giving the brightest sound possible. This is normal operation for the Am Std Strats with that feature.

Por favor, disculpe mi español, no se llega a la práctica con mucha frecuencia.

Thanks. I hadn't heard of that before. I guess I'm just gonna have to fork over the dough if I want to bring it home.
