hey sabre i noticed you play a musicman sabre   a friend of mine and bass player for my new band is intressted in buying one used off this guy for 950 euros worth it? does it hold up well?

I got my 1978 (Leo Fender - Pre-Ernie Ball) Sabre brand new and gigged and rehearsed with it exclusively until a few months ago.. That baby has been through all kinds of abuse, and she still plays and sounds like a champ...

She's to valuable to abuse anymore...
I now keep her reserved for special occasions.
She's been gigged for over 33 years and as solid as ever...
And NEVER went out of tune, no matter what!

I finally found 2 basses that I liked enough to leave her home these days... I built the better of the 2 from scratch...

Don't know the condition or any other details of the one your friend is looking at, so it would be hard to say what that particular one is worth...

Go have a look at some that sold recently on E-Bay to get a rough estimate as to its value...
Even the older Ernie Balls go for pretty good money these days...

ok thanks man

Hey!
If you can get me that deal, I might allow you to become my agent. 8)

Gees, don't appear too anxious, I haven't gotten a counter offer yet.

I usually set my action slightly high, because I play slide guitar on some things and too low action doesn't work well with that. But I still keep it set low enough so that I can finger chords and notes easily in the usual manner, if I want or need to. I use an .010 gauge string set, too, because I found out years ago that I get better tone overall with a little more "meat" over the pups.
