I heard only sun burst color has alder body, others have poplar, and all the recent models have alder body.

I have MIM 60's classic strat.

Lake Placid Blue color. MZ7 serial.

Does my guitar have body in alder or poplar?

Try lifting out your pick guard assembly and looking at the wood inside the cavities. If it has a very light greenish tint, it's poplar. If it is tan/beige, it's alder. I don't recall reading of any manufacturers who use burst on poplar. I think most, if not all, builders use solid colors on poplar. I have only one poplar guitar, so that's the limit of my personal experience.

My 07 MIM 60s Classic in CAR has an Alder Body as does my 2004 MIM 50th Anniversary Golden Stratocaster.

Poplar was used for MIM bodies only briefly, two or three years IIRC, and only for guitars destined to receive solid opaque colors. This was due to a temporary shortage of suitable alder, occurring from 2001 to 2003. Sunburst guitars and those with other transparent-type finishes remained in alder. Sonically, the two lumbers have very similar properties.

Send the serial number to consumerrelations@fender.com and ask them for the info sheet. It tells you the body wood.

Some 97 mim strats were poplar as well for sure, so it's possible that it's used more than reported.

Also, poplar is not always greenish. I refinished a poplar body and part of it was as white as ash while small parts were clearly greenish.
