Might I ask what you have paid for the guitar when you bought it?

I can understand that if you paid the listed price that 50% value loss is a lot.
Normally one should assume about 20% loss. But, these are instruments. A MIM will drop in value when you buy it (a MIA also and even a CS will drop in value when you first get it), but that 500 price tag is a stable tag, unlike for example a car. This guitar you have (provided it will stay in good condition) will keep that 500 value. If the recent price changes of Fender will continue in the future, that guitar might be 600/700 in 5 years from now. Now take it to the extreme, in 50 years... that guitar will be 1000 again. With inflation even more, add the vintage-mojo-factor and you can double it.

For now you have to accept that you have a used product that is readily available in both stores and the 2nd-hand market and that puts a lot of pressure on your resale value. If you want to make money out of it. Wait. 40, 50 years.
