Hello,I recently purchased a 2nd hand Mexican made classic series 50s Strat and noticed that the low E string polepiece is sitting flush with pickup cover on the neck pickup. The middle & bridge pickups have the low E polepiece sticking out(1.5mm/2/32inch).It just caught my eye and I wondered if it should be like that or has it dropped down? Just to clarify-these are the original Fender spec (staggered polepieces)Vintage style pickups.Excuse my ignorance, but,is it just a simple case of pulling/pushing the polepiece up-I assume I would have to take pickguard off? Many thanks in advance for any help/advice,Cheers,Johnny U.K.

You'd be wise to leave those polepieces alone -- they are not intended to be adjustable.

If the instrument otherwise sounds fine, play it and enjoy it.

Cheers for your swift reply Arjay-I meant to say that guitar sounds fine and that string volume balance on that pickup is fine.Reckon I'll leave well alone and concentrate on playing -Cheers,Johnny.

It's possible that the pickup cover is not quite seated correctly over the bobbin and coil -- you might inspect the fit whenever you have the pickguard removed. Use caution though: the filament wire used to wind the coils is extremely delicate.

I have one of these guitars (a '99 model) and they're great platforms for upgrading and modding.

Best of luck

Arjay
