I posted earlier about a 62 reissue I purchased in 1990. I now realize there is no serial number to be found anywhere on the guitar. I have posted pics here at the link below.

I am trying to determine the model and approximate year it was built. I also would like a ballpark figure of what this guitar would go for today. Aside from the serial number issue, it's hardly been out of the case in over 20 years. It's in mint condition. Thanks to all of you.

This does not appear to be a MIA AVRI reissue.
The only others available were MIJ reissues.
Other than the lack of 'Made in Japan' and serial number next to the heel,
two other things concern me
1. the two dots on the fingerboard look a bit too far apart.
2. The scratchplate is missing the scallop adjacent to the truss rod adjuster.

Your guitar worries me too.

Take a good look at the machine heads and that neck plate..

And there's usually no good reason for an absent serial number.

Where did you get it from? Dealer? Private sale?

I know the 67 Japan reissues had that neck plate but of course thats not a 67. Whats the heel of the neck say?

There's something seriously wonky with the positioning of the strap button on the upper horn as well.

Disassembly of the guitar will probably be necessary for any further information.

Right. It could mean the guitar was stolen.
It could mean that someone tried to hide the true origin of the guitar to pass it off as an American made guitar.

+1

It'd be impossible to determine the motive for removing a serial number -- a good bet though is that it was for a nefarious purpose of one sort or another.
