Are we looking at the same auction? The guitar listed as Lot #130 and depicted on page 85 of the Bonham's catalog has a different top, and pickups. There was no candy green guitar offered at the Bonham's in NYC, nor is thereI was there for the preview with Kong. If I'm correct, this guitar went out at the first one, and that's likely what you've pictured. I remember it having been commented on somewhere as someone's idea of an updated 'Brownie'. In fact, this years Road Show LTD's feature a Strat with a gorgeous top like that. Mike's posted the picture on his Forum.
Quite a collection of photos you have access to. :!:  Never cease to be impressed by what you post.

Guys,
Thanks for the Clapton topics. Keep em coming. I am a die hard Clapton fan.
I have seen him in Columbus, OH, checking his mail and jogging. He is a really nice guy.
Down to earth. I love all the comments about his gear and preferences for tone.
Also, keep the photos coming. If I catch a good photo of him out and about, I will post it, although he does not like to be photographed or bothered, which I would never do, without asking first.
Rock on
P...

Yes, I've seen this guitar. It's a Custom Deluxe FMT finished in Aged Cherry Sunburst with a fancy abalone-dot inlaid birdseye maple neck/fretboard and gold-plated hardware.

I suppose this guitar is also available with a hot humbucker in the bridge, though I haven't found pictures of the HSS version yet.

I heard his wife is from columbus, oh. I live in akron. Some times we go to Columbus to go to thurmans cafe, they have the best burgers & wings there. I wonder if Eric's been there? Ha ha.....
Sure would love meet him. Like all of us, he's in a special place in our hearts. He's truly a man who has LIVED the blues, & shows that emotion in his playing on many of his songs. Loved him since the cream days.
Also I love that custom FMT strat, wonder if it comes with a rosewood board & tobacco sunburst?

That's pretty much what defines the guitar, save for the neck. I'm sure the Custom Shop could build one for you sans active electronics.[/quote]

yeah I know. I'm not knocking the mid-boost, I just don't think I would really use it in my own playing. But it would certainly make a Strat much more versatile.

BTW, sorry about messing your quote up in my last post. I've fixed it.

Nuh...uhhh! Whatcha see is watcha get and personally[though I know this'll likely highjack the thread,] this is one guitar top-IMHO of course- where rosewood board doesn't cut it.......including the tobacco sunburst, which is close to what the T-Mobile Guitar carried. Though pup covers sans pole pieces might be a added touch.
BTW: I hate when they turn out gear like that. Just when I think I am out....they pull me back in. It's the lack of a V-neck that saves my $@! every time.

If you've not read his autobiography, you'll find that relationship covered in general detail, along with some lovely photos of him with his daughters....also to be found in fuller detail inside the liner notes of his CD 'Back Home'. Your hopes and aspirations are understandable, and I understand from whence they come. However, though he has permitted his family to be photographed as such, and has shared snippets of these beautiful children on video of the Crossroads Concert, I would think it would the most extreme of chances for you to find him in a public place with them not surrounded by a retinue of security. For my part, this is one area of his life which I would prefer to leave alone, untouched and sacrosant from prying eyes. They constitute the very thing which has given him his stability and permitted him to continue pursuing the art which we enjoy mirrored in the appreciation and respect which has generated the theme of this thread. Given what this man has endured in his past, and over come to a certain extent we, his audience, should do all we can do to make it so.
Doc.

Not to mention the pics of him with Melia, Julie-Rose and Ruthie found on the "One More Car" DVD!

I saw J.W. Black making the original Clapton FMT Strat back in 1998, but it appears that other masterbuilders such as Jason Davis crafted this exquisite Flametop Brownie for an apparently happy customer.

Thats definitely along the lines of something I did about 5 years ago, only it had a rosewood board, SCN's, gold hardware, all black plastic and was done dark SRV burst. I called it my heroes tribute guitar: Holly, Clapton, Buddy Guy, SRV, and anyone else to played a sunburst Strat. It was Teambuilt and I learned recently that reason they couldn't have possibly gotten the neck carve as true as I wanted it was because of the shoulders necessary on the rosewood laminated board. I should have ordered a 21-fret solid maple neck for that one. You live and learn. But that was long before the Forums and and my coming of age to the truth of things. That guitar up there is a honey. You've really had an inside track in this game, but I won't ask further. The pics you contribute are just super.

Thanks for the comments.

Eric also owned a similar guitar having the same specs as the aforementioned cherry sunburst Clapton FMT, except for the addition of a lightly figured birdseye maple neck with abalone dot inlays and his signature on the 12th fret. I've found a picture of this J.W. Black creation on the Web, but it seems the hosting website was gone.

Only 2 posts to achieve the ultimate rank, future "rock icon"!
