Can someone tell me where I can get a Fender VG Stratocaster Battery Holder (4 pack). I am having trouble purchasing one. :( I am happy to buy online from a reliable source. I live in Melbourne Australia.

You might try eBay and search what you are looking for. The most prolific vendor of cannabalized parts is an outfit called Strato-Sphere {aka Reliable Fender]. They are not necessarily dear to the hearts of some Forum members because they sell items such as neck plates which have unscrupulous potentials of use. We've had some really heated debates herein over that. Thus said, see what you can eke out in your search, and if the juice is worth the squeeze. As the owner of a Deluxe VG, I'm prompted to ask what happened to the original?

I have 2 battery holders. I ordered the 2nd as a backup. It comes with the holder and the coverplate. Any authorized Fender dealer should be able to order it. As I recall it was around $40.00 US. It's come in handy on more than one occasion.

That's a reasonable source, as well. The question being whether Fender would continue to have parts stock on a guitar which was D/C'd two years ago. I wouldn't be surprised if they outsourced their stock to another vendor. On that one I'd email consumerrelations@fender.com and put the question to them, first.

Fender's reply was not very helpful. Below was what they sent and when I told them that I had tried with no success I did not receive another reply. I am very disappointed. If I knew that it would be so hard to get a part after they stop manufacturing a guitar, I would never have bought it.

Anne,

Have you tried Music Parts Guru 630-521-9170?

Take care,

Anne sorry to hear you're having trouble I did find the part no. which is #0073625000.
The number that customer relations sent you is a US phone number.
You might also try this site. It is part of the Ebay Stratsphere store.

Did you end up getting a battery holder?
I'm up in Sydney trying to track one as a backup

What's happening with the stock part that's causing the need for replacement?

Hello Anne, welcome to the Forum.

Aside from contacting Fender direct, if you go to any Authorised Fender Dealer (as opposed to a guitar shop that sells Fenders but is not an authorised dealer) they can order for you any spare part the company issues. The lead time on that is sometimes astonishingly slow, especially internationally, but if Fender still possess that part this is the kosher way to get it.

However. The battery holders guitar companies use are in fact standard electrical parts and there are not a lot of models to choose from, so you stand a good chance of finding the exact same item, probably a lot cheaper, from a local electrical parts supplier. I'm not in Australia and don't know your stockists, but that's the way I'd be headed.

If that doesn't work and you decide you have to order internationally, then some suppliers of guitar type battery holders are:

http://www.guitarpartsresource.com/electrical_other.htm

and

http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Electronics ... y_Box.html

and (much more affordably from the merry ol' UK)

http://www.axesrus.co.uk/category-s/1990.htm

I don't know the holder Fender fitted to the VG but I'd be a little surprised if it's not one of those.

Though if it isn't... well, post us a photo here of what yours looks like and I'm sure we can track down a match for you.

Good luck - C

Apparently, it's a good thing you are trying to find this part now before you really need it! This is the Fender part number: 0073625000. Hopefully, this will make things a bit easier for you.
