It's probably an 20AWG wire. If you are not sure, bigger is better as far as grounding goes.

Its the same size as all the other wires in the guitar. We're not talking about high current/voltage here.

Yeah, ditto.

I had to shelp to radioshack recently and 20 gauge was the closest to the sample wire I brought.

Standard wiring gauge for all Fender guitar wiring is 22 guage. Regardless of whether it is signal wire or ground.
