I've come into some expendable G.A.S. cash and I'm looking to buy a Fender amp.
I've narrowed it down to 2 choices to go look at this weekend.

Here are my choices:

A 1971 Silver Face Twin Reverb in what appears to be great condition...orig owner. $800.00

Image

A "Red Knob" EVIL TWIN , once again in great cond...orig. owner $599.00

I have little experience with both.
I've played a TWIN and it was great...if not a tad bit Trebly...not in a bad way.....

I've NEVER played an "Evil Twin"...

HELP!!!

Depends on how versital you want to be...the 71 is a good all round amp and probably sounds great...but if you can deal with the red knobs and gray grill cloth...then go with the "Evil Twin"...personnally I would go with the Silver Face...FWIW

i like them both for different reasons. i really like the red knob though.
either way, you had better be prepaired for the volums of a twin.
they are freakin loud, really loud. i hope you have need for a amp this loud too.
they are pretty hard to control. you have loud, or LOUD. to turely get the tone of a twin, it needs to be turned up. otherwise its a waste of money in my opinion.
good luck with your choice. you cant go wrong with either.

Hmmmmm...........
A TWIN is not like a Marshall from what I understand. A TWIN is revered for it's CLEAN tones....which do not have to be at ear splitting levels to obtain.
A Marshall on the other hand NEEDS to be at ear splitting levels to "get the goods" from it!
I'm starting a band where the drummer is an animal and the bassist has an AMPEG SVT....so I'd better keep up!

yes to an extent your right here on this. the twin does have its "sweet spot" just the same. oh you will have no problems with a twin and the drummer. just make sure the twin is facing the drummer. he will settle down real quickly or get even louder because hes going deaf. word of advise on your drummer. if he starts getting to loud because he feels hes the prince of pound, kick him square in the nards. i hate drummers that cant control their own volume. its almost as bad as one that cant keep a steady beat. seriously.
