I just got off the phone with a friend who is a vintage Strat collector and and we started talking "tone wood." He said that he heard that Eric Johnson made the comment that his ears could tell what type of battery is being used in a effects pedal! Ummmm, wonder if that is true and wonder if THAT is true???

That utterance is as well known in guitar circles as Superman's secret identity. This is why EJ is strictly a Duracell user to the best of my knowledge and belief.

Some pedals, I can definitely hear the difference between batteries, but I think he was talking about the difference between zinc and alkaline batteries. My Zendrive, and Timmy/Tim I can hear it, the alkline is harsher than the zinc. The reason is they discharge their power differently. Overdrives/fuzz (mostly the germanium based), my wah, and compressor all sound different with diff batteries.

I'd be interested to see the Ramones sales figures in comparison to Rush or Les West. I wonder by how many multiples they outsold them.

--As a group, Rush possesses 24 gold records and 14 platinum (3 multi-platinum) records. Rush's sales statistics place them third behind The Beatles and The Rolling Stones for the most consecutive gold or platinum studio albums by a rock band. Rush also ranks 79th in U.S. album sales with 25 million units. Although total worldwide album sales are not calculated by any single entity, as of 2004 several industry sources estimated Rush's total worldwide album sales at over 40 million units.

The Ramone's only record with enough U.S. sales to be certified gold was the compilation album Ramones Mania

hehe nik, I'll go out on a limb and suggest it isn't very close, and not bother to include Mountain
