I ordered a new Tele last Jan. or so. After playing it for a fue months, I realy dont like it. It's a beuatiful guitar, and plays the best of all ive ever owned. It's Black with a white pick guard. Would I be happy with a Strat, maby HSS or what? or shold I change the pick guard to black and let it go at that. Some guys are never satisfied.

I don,t understand what your asking. What don,t you like about the tele. If its beautiful and the best you have ever owned what more do you want.

Yeah I don't understand what the problem is here. You said it plays great.....does it sound good?

You might wanna post this in the Telecaster section instead.

Seems to me that it's the best of the guitars he's owned previously, but he (quite correctly! ) would prefer a USA Strat instead of the Tele!!

A strat and a tele are very different guitars and besides sounding different, feel very different. I have 3 strats and one tele at the moment (and 7 other guitars) and while the tele is beautiful, I find myself thinking about making a deal with someone on craigslist looking to trade a nicer strat for a tele. I'll give it some time, but I think I know what you're saying.

So the pickguard is the issue.. :?:
Here again I don't get it...
If it is the best guitar you have had, the only reason I can see to change to a strat would be concerning the kind of music you are playing.
However, a tele is quite versatile and personally a strat is not going to replace a tele in sound since they are set up quite differently as far as pickup and electronics.
If at all possible I would suggest to 1st get a strat and then compare the two.
Memory doesn't work very well when comparing one guitar for another.

As for the HSS setup, that is going to be even further from the traditional strat sound than a SSS setup. Unless it is an HSS setup with coil splitting capabilities, but it still will be very different

You are not clear on what you are seeking, I would write a Pro's and Con's list of the Tele than figure out what you want and then research what setup will take you to your goal.
Music style, is key on that list, so that you can match the tools to the task at hand.

i would have to say that a tele is the most versatile guitar out there.

Not me. I'd say a Strat is the most versatile. Comparing a Tele and Strat, both un-modded, a Strat has more pickups and a 5 way switch resulting in more tone options for the player. It also has a whammy bar for people that like that kind of thing, which a Tele doesn't. In my opinion, Strat's are probably the most versatile guitars ever made.
