I finally took the neck off my 83 Strat for a look and was wondering what if anything the stamp on the back (where it joins the body) means. It's a small circle containing FFR above the figure 20.

There's also a name stamped in red (not hand written). It's J Sern@ or J. Sem@ (last letter is illegible).

On the body in the cavity where the neck goes is a large H scrawled in red felt tip. I'm guessing it means the body was destined to be a hard tail (it is one).

I'd love to hear from anyone who knows anything about these markings. It's strange to think they've been hidden for almost 30 years!! (The heel date stamp is 2283 by the way).
