I'm a hardtail guy, I use heavy bends and my pick hand rests on the bridge for ease of palm muting.
I tend to get excited and "bear down" on the bridge at times, and was raising pitch unintentionally....and after much research decided to go with "Tremel-No"s pin-type 3 stage bridge lock because I like the optional versatility of trem active/dive only/trem locked.
I went thru the entire alignment process so I can use all 3, although it will be locked 99% of the time.
I won't be posting the "before" pics, y'all are Strat guys and have seen this before.....

heres the new claw w/shaft, installed, adjusted, and springs reinstalled

receiver installed, clamp shimmed (1mm) & set, everything aligned/adjusted/slide block set for "locked"/ground wire reinstalled, ready for back cover

the only visible sign of the unit, besides a rock hard bridge

the directions were easily understandable, and taking my time, photo'ing as I went it was a 1.5 hr. job.

Nice.

Is the trem block really that thin in an American Deluxe? Even my MIM Standard Strat had a full size, thicker block than that.

+1

Personally, I'd have just built (or bought) myself a hardtail and be done with it.

YMMV

Q1.....it's wedge shaped, yes, the inner edge is thin
Q2.....$50 USD, & a wood block and/or 5 springs wouldn't allow me to make an adjustment from locked, to dive only, or fully active in a span of 5 seconds with the back cover off, or 10 seconds if I put magnetic pads on my back cover.
I also just wanted to try it and see IF it works as advertized, now that they've improved on the origional design and added a clamp for this particular block.

5 hrs playtime on it, only had to tune the high-e a tad once, everything else fine.
