Hey everyone. Im trying to lower my string height. I like them on the fretboard, or atleast as close a possible. I've already adjusted the saddle screws (the little black ones) and even messed with the neck both ways. What can I/should I do ? Im starting to think that I need to adjust my tremelo system, but I dont know about going to do it . Please help me with this annoying matter. Thanks :)

your strings should be about 5/64 on the bass side E and 4/64 on the treble side E (measurements taken from the bottom of the string to the 17th fret) from there you adjust the saddles acordingly to match the radius of your neck. Adjust your truss rod so that when you lay a straight edge along the whole fretboard there is about a .010 gap in the middle (for 9.5 radius) or .012 (for 7.5 radius). This is the cleanest setup. Stings any lower than this you will probably get a buzz. Your trem should be adjusted so that there is an 1/8" gap in the rear to the body (while guitar is in tune)

You need to research how to setup a guitar first. Getting the neck with standard relief is your first step. Then properly adjust the saddle height. You can then remove some relief, but pay particular attention to whether the lower frets start to buzz. If that all goes well, you can lower the saddle height, one at a time paying particular attention to string bending creating buzz on the frets above. You will have a limit as to how low you can practically go, but with patience, I think you'll be happy. Also be sure to listen through an amp or headphones. Acoustic buzz means nothing. If you can't hear it through an amp, you don't care.

Strings need room to vibrate. "On the fretboard" is not a viable option. You are limited by the relief in the neck and how good the fret job is. You didn't say what guitar you have or what gauge strings you are using, but depending on the quality of things you may never get below 4/64" string height without buzz. FWIW, I like mine at 5/64".
