I was hoping someone might have one or recognize what my strat is.

It is a Strat Ultra in every way... except that it says "Made in Japan" serial # Q012255. The color is crimson burst foto flame with the lace pickups in the correct orientation as well as the mini switch and TBX tone system. It has the Floyd Rose II tremolo system. On the end of the head it says "Floyd Rose Squier Series" in small black script. I bought it used in 1995, and have never been able to really find anything about it on the net or in books. It maybe that it was customized to duplicate the features of the American Strat Ultra. The only thing that I have added to the guitar is the chrome nobs (the lower tone nob is missing in the pic).

Thanks Timski28, I am debating on changing the pups to Rio Grandes or the Texas Specials for more of that Texas blues tone. But some reviews say they are a bit noisy. Not sure what humbucker to get.

Man, it's a beauty... I wouldn't mess with it if it were mine.

Strataholic, I keep thinking that- hence why I haven't really changed anything on it yet. I have a MIM strat too. I may put some better pickups on it and leave this one alone. It is extraordinarily versatile.

I think before I mess with the pickups I need to get the tremolo worked on. I will say that when I bought it I loved the floating bridge. Not that I was that wild with the tremolo, but you can rest your palm on it and with little influence vibrato a note. After 13 years one of us has gotten cantankerous. The base E wont stay in tune, it doesn't return back to the exact same spot after a dive. The intonation is out now too. I think its time to call around for a knowledgeable tech. Once I find out the problem and get it fixed (hopefuly with out buying a whole new floyd rose) I am going to spring for the tremol-no. It allows the floating bridge to be locked and helps sustain. Otherwise you cant bend strings too much with out pulling the others out of tune while you are doing it. If I had to do it all over again I wouldn't get a floating bridge, but when I bought it - it was primarily because of the color, fretboard, and electronics anyway.

back to work! haha

Hey Blues - Nice Strat....Along with what's been suggested earlier, I'd just work out the issues with the tremolo and the setup and just enjoy it. Being that it was made in the Fuji-gen plant in '93 or '94, to me it's worth keeping as is and just enjoy playing it..........J

Interesting twist here. I took the FR II off to check things over and it struck me. I have never taken the pic plate off. That's not like me at all. And what better way to get a better look to see if any of its factory. Hmmm well I almost gave up drinking after seeing this. I cant imagine what would possess someone to do this. Also, the wiring is all white and orange with exception to the main ground to the outlet. The soldering is very inconsistent. One wire cam loose while I was looking around. So looks like it was a project guitar. I guess its my project guitar now.
