Has any one tried the Ritchie Blackmore strat? I was wondering
about the scalloped fretboard. Is it comfortable or do your strings get stuck?
I think you would get more sounds with a middle pick up. I guess Ricthie
likes a different Fender sound.

I love my Blackmore Strat (Mexico).
The thing with scalloped fretboards is you love it or you hate it.
For me it is one of the most comfortable to play necks. The sound is fat. That´s why I bought the Blackmore (I wanted the Malmsteen and checked both). The Malmsteen is an awesome guitar but I liked the Blackmore scalloped neck way better.
Check out the Blackmore, you have to.

Here´s a short review (sorry for coming up with that again good people here).

The Blackmore's scalloping is way less than the Malmsteen, right?

It's not all the way across the fretboard, right?

The Malmsteen fretboard is deeper scalloped. Blackmore scallop is all over the neck but the low E side is not so pronounced up to the 12th fret.
Of course only available in white with rosewood fretboard.
Parts are made in USA, Schaller tuners.
Price is about 1k. You get american parts, Duncan pickups (2) and a very well done scalloped fretboard.

Cheers,
Robin

Fun to play. Harder to chord with though.

Owning 2 Malmsteen strats, and a Blackmore.. I can verify the above statement is true. The Malmsteen (2008's) have way more depth in the scalloping. The Blackmore in my opinion is slight. The Malmsteen with its pickups is not a very hot guitar and is very quiet which alot of people don't realise. On the other hand, the Blackmore which is built in Mexico.. is a very fine guitar being its not a US made. Its scalloping should not cause any major comforbility problems. On the Malmsteen, you have to be cautious when chording, or you will go sharp on the notes. It takes a bit of getting use to, but once you mess with it for a week, you won't go back to a normal neck. Not so much with the Blackmore. You don't have to be so precise, and makes note bending a bit easier than a normal neck. On the Malmsteen, you can bend the note as far as you can without getting tangled in the other strings. The Blackmore.. bending is easier, but not as exageratted as the Malmsteen. The Blackmore is a bit more noiser with its pickups. This is my experience witht the two. I own both. Hope this helps you out.
