But dude....he fell in love with the guitar after owning it for an hour. How could he possibly return it or exchange it? Another guitar just wouldn't be the same ;)

I know what it's like to play a guitar that just feels right. I have a couple of my own. But I don't think I fell "in love" with any of them during the first 60 minutes that I owned them.

thats one of the things i skipped over. just didnt want to point that out.
im begining to think this post is a BS post. the OP just doesnt seem interested in
the post at all hardly. he's not bothered to check back and tell us his opinions on our suggestions or anything. just doesnt seem right does it?

Here is the Fender electric instrument warranty:

http://support.fender.com/warranty/FEND ... 1_revC.pdf

Note the following statement, sentence two of paragraph two:

The Fender Dealer from whom you purchased your instrument may also be authorized for warranty service and should be the first point of contact when service of any kind is required for your Fender instrument.

The OP failed to do this and now must live with the consequences.

They aren't a warranty center and Fender asked me if I was willing to go to a service shop... I just happened to be lucky that they wanted me to go to a Luthier I already felt comfortable with.

On a similar note, I thought I'd share a recent experience. I ordered a new Telecaster Blacktop from GC. It arrived defective. The bridge had been installed incorrectly and the guitar could not be intonated. I exchanged it for a MIM Strat, which I'm happy with, but I was really disappointed about the Telecaster. I can't help but wonder how many defective :) Tele Blacktops came out of the factory that day (or days). Having said that, I still love their guitars and will stick with them ( I'm installing Fender Vintage Noiseless pups in the Strat along with better locking tuners today).

and here we see the story of a guy that followed the right steps to get his issue resolved.

as far as the tele and the incorrectly installed bridge, it happens. your talking assembly line here and mass production. glad this all worked out well for you.

Yea, this is pretty crazy. Personally speaking, just the way I am and how I'm wired. Breaks down in 1 hour= money back without blinking. I'll divorce a guitar in a second.

My opinion is that Fender's best guitars are the ones that are kept basic in a masterful sense. Turning one into a BORG probably wasn't the greatest idea for them.

You continue to miss or simply refuse to acknowledge the point that I and everyone else has been making: If you had gone to the dealer first as the warranty states, you could have gotten an immediate refund of the purchase price and bought another guitar or exchanged the faulty guitar on the spot for another. You chose instead to go directly to Fender and now you have to live with the consequences. Deal with it. I have no sympathy for you.

Here's another point. If your guitar is just sitting at your luthiers workshop, why don't you just go get it & use it until the part arrives? Why leave it in the shop for 6 to 8 weeks?
