I'll be the lone dissenter. I like it better with the white pickguard.

Love the Black on Black. IMO switching the knobs and P/U covers to black also would be too much black.

My thought as well.

I'm a sucker for the tux look. My first guitar was a samick strat, black with white pick guard, etc.

The tuxedo version has a real classy look to it.

Hey all, thanks for he comments and pics! Keep 'em coming! I ended up putting the VN pups and covers I spray painted on eBay (along with my Fiesta Red reissue). I too agree that the Tuxedo look is the best! I thought about buying several variations of the black PG, such as the black/red/black or all black that Warmoth offers. I think a cool look would be black/gold/black to offset the gold lettering on the VNs...

Ditto....and FYI....the pickguard on the Gilmour NOS is not laminated, but about as thick as them, with rounded contours. Very different from stock. Leave as is. Its' a good look, unless you really like that Buddy Guy guitar feel.

Xhefri...our Strat Plus guru....did just that with a black/red/black pickguard not too long ago. The guitar is all black. His question was regarding an all maple vs rosewood neck. He chose rosewood. Turned out a real sweet looker. The red stripe on the guard, for THAT guitar, was a perfect accent. The tuxedo look likely works better with a light colored neck.

You know, it's a shame I don't post more than i do... I read SO much helpful stuff here. Whomever chose the name "Community" certainly picked the right one! There is such a wealth of helpful information here and the kindly spirit displayed by most participants :D is exemplary! Sure there are flamers, etc. but those gracious souls here rise above it and don't entertain or get sucked into "drama"... For a "virtual" community, this one is tops! I tip my virtual hat to you all!

It might just be your luck that you don't. Penalties for doing so range from sleep deprivation to alimony and child support.
