The title pretty much asks my question. I've found an original model that I really like, but I haven't seen really great experiences posted here. Input please!

well they are great guitars an deffinitly worth the price

but one thing wich is important is to play it first and then make up your mind

i have played many of them and 24/25 of them were great

the one tht i didnt like was a lemon..

The Highway 1's are excellent guitars. But go check them out and play them for yourself.

It's not that I think that they're bad, what I'm worried about are long term conditions; ie, bad tuners, weak pickups, etc.

Huh??????????????? bad tuners, weak pickups??? Have you actually played one?????

I have have one and I play it more than my American Standard, and 1991 57' Strat reissue or all of my other guitars for that matter.

Mine is completely stock and the pickups are great considering they are stock and mexican made. They have alnico III magnets, same used back in 54 strats, but are "hot wounded". The bridge when used with distortion sound almost like a P90 pickup, very distortion friendly. The stock tuners stay in tune with no problem. Hiighway 1 strats are great guitars.

I have two and I'd pick up another, especially the Flat Black or Daphne Blue model. They're great.

The tuners seem as good as any.

The pickups are of classic design. The current ones are a bit hotter than other vintage type, but I bet they sound great.

My Highway One was made at the end of 2005 and has the previous pickups: they sound just fine, nice low output single coil sounds.

They are a good value. Just get yourself a good case for it and you'll be set for a long time.

I think they are, but as mentioned, you must decide by playing and what you are looking for.

The feel is "worn-in" and very playable. I don't like the matte finish tho. Sound is superb, pickups are great on fender amps, thin-skin finish seems to do what fender says it does. I also play mine more than my other two american made (and more expensive) strats.

I had an 05 honey blonde model with maple fretboard before the upgrade - fine guitar and well worth the money :D
