The bridge is a Washburn Wonderbar, which is mounted on the surface of a guitar, not requiring any routing.

As I remember it, he had it bronzed before the show. He states that in the "making of" on the Last Waltz DVD. Apparently, he hadn't considered the weight gain of the bronzing process, which is why he switched to a different Strat mid-concert. Talk about "put the load right on me"! :mrgreen:

Wow i just watched the last waltz. I thought that was bronze paint. I'll have to take a better look.
