Hey I'm looking into getting a new wah because I'm getting tired of always having to clean out the pot on my Vox V847 with it's constant scratchiness. I like the hendrixy sounds i get from it but I want a wah that kind of does the same thing but is just overall better. Anybody have any suggestions?

Hey Rossfloss,

I don't have an awful lot of experience with wah pedals, but I got a Dunlop Crybaby wah the other day, and it seems pretty good. I was able to dial in a hendrix-y tone quite easily using my pod.

Hope this helps, and I'm sure someone more knowledgeable on pedals will be around soon!

Drew :)

I have the Crybaby 535q with the fasel inductor can get allot of different sounds out of that pedal well worth the money. I think Soundgarden used them also joe satriani..

Ernie Ball Wah. You'll never use anything else again.

You're going to have to clean the pot on any wah occasionaly. Except the Morley ones that use a optical thingamee rather than a pot.

I personaly favour the Jen Wah of the 60's/70's. You can pick em up cheap if you're patient and dilligent. Around £50-£100. They sound far rounder than modern dunlops and vox's. Though I got significant improvment raising the value of the input capacitor on a Vox to .1uf. Very fat, very bassy sound with a load of volume boost. No good for band situations when you want wah rhythm, but great for home use when you want the boost.

I've had both a Classic Crybaby with the Fasel inductor and a Fulltone Clyde Standard wah. The Fulltone is better by a mile.

I second the motion for the Fulltone Clyde, also the Teese RMC picture wah is a fabulous pedal-a bit pricey but you certainly get what you pay for and then some. When the pot on my old Vox Clyde McCoy wah went I tried DungPlop and many other pots but finally found a great one at North Star Audio-it has the same taper and sound of the pot in the original Clyde McCoy wah.You can email Tom the owner here: tomlanik@earthlink.net or got to his website http://www.northstaraudio.net/
