The first models with the S1 came out sometime around July/August 2003. I can also add a list of models with the S1 switch:

American Series HSS Strat - July/August 2003 through the end of 2007 (the American Standard HSS that came out in January 2008 no longer had the S1 switch)

American Series HH Strat - July/August 2003 through the end of 2006 (no current USA-made HH Strat)

All American Deluxe Strat models - January 2004 to present day.

HS and HH American Series Teles of that same era have the S1, as do all American Deluxe Teles from January 2004 to present day.
