I'm not sure there was a certificate for those. I would contact Fender's consumer relations and see what they say: consumerrelations@fender.com

I'm not sure what you've got. It's not a CS guitar. It's got the '96 50th Anniversary sticker, but that doesn't make it an "Anniversary" edition guitar. I smell a rat, but maybe it's ligit. Good luck!

The one in the auction looks legit to me - while all 1996 Fenders got that medallion on the back of the headstock there was a "50th Anniversary of Fender" Strats(and companion Tele, P-Bass, and J-Bass); they were American Standards with gold hardware, that darker burst finish and maple veneers on the top and bottom of the body (like a Strat Ultra). They were production models, not CS. However, I would feel better about the auction if there was a photo of the neck plate as well.

The two postings listed above sound like they know what they're talking about.

I know that every Fender got the little gold sticker. It's one of my pet peaves when someone on e-bay sells a one of the '96 or '04 guitars as an "Anniversary" model when all Fenders got the sticker.

I once had two guitar salesmen trying to tell me that a '04 Strat Deluxe was an anniversary model.

Good luck with the guitar.

Dittos with the '06 models -- that year, everything got a peel-and-stick medallion on the reverse side of the headstock. Beyond marketing hype, it means nothing.

Fender PU`s are American Standard 50th Anniversary vintage style pickups. I guess it was a special vintage voiced version of the American Standard pickup for this particular model. The are single coils and have a very traditional Fender Strat tone to them.

They were made in the regular factory, not the Custom Shop.
