Here is a great automotive paint website if you want to spend some time with guitar paint research.
http://www.tcpglobal.com/autocolorlibrary/
This is Ditzler information, and won't have the DuPont color numbers that Fender used. Also, the color names were used over and over through the years on different shades of the same color, but the numbers only relate to one specific color.

It is interesting to note that with all the fuss over nitrocellulose lacquer being the be-all and end-all, only the solid colors are Duco, the DuPont tradename for nitrocellulose lacquer. I also noticed that one solid color, Olympic White, was Lucite - which is acrylic lacquer. So all you people out there with a white Fender: it's acrylic. Conversely, all of the metallic finishes are Lucite, with the exception of Sherwood Green, which is Duco, and therefore nitro. Just an interesting detail.

Here is a website I'm sure many of you know about. It is a good resource for accurate information, very little speculation, has been on-line for many years, and this guy knows his stuff: http://home.provide.net/~cfh/feature.html
