I wasn't as interested in a 12 string as being able to do alternate tunings on a non-trem bridge. Think Keith Richards' tuning.

Which one? Keith uses several different tunings.

Well, not being a trem, changing tunings on that upper neck is easy.

The one I like best is Drop-D + Drop-G: DGDGBE which gives me standard tuning on the top four strings and open G on the lower 4 strings at the same time (so I can be Keith R. and Mick T. on the same song).

The cost involved and the wait would seem endless. I think the novelty of ORANGE could wear off. My USA 89 was originally YELLOW it seemed ok when I bought it, but I had it repainted after a while. The other features sound good. I don't get the exclusion of the back plate.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I love using the Open G, DADGAD tunings. My 335 is usually in DADGAD

What do you guys think about this

A soft C shaped 9.5 radius rosewood neck with highest grade fret wire
Orange for the color with vintage white amp knobs
White or Brown Shell pickguard
No back plate with 5 springs
I'm debating on pickups FAT 50's or CS 69's
I have some other details and things I want done

If anyone knows how much this would cost and other things I'd love to hear some input on what you think.

Thanks

Sounds like a nice start...I would go with:

Translucent orange finish
Parchment or mint knobs and pickguard
Birdseye maple neck (I only own rosewood...)
Bottle Opener (only kidding...)
Matching custom hardshell case
