Hello,

I can buy a custom deluxe strat from 2009. I already have a '95 standard strat. I dont see many differences between the custom strat and mine except for the pickups.

Doe anyone have any experience with the 2009 model of the custom deluxe strat?

Should I buy this strat of save a bit more and buy the David Gilmour signature??

I'd save for the Gilmour, but it's your choice!

Actually there are a few differences. In about 2002 Fender overhauled the Strat. They rolled the edges of the neck to give it a broken in feeling. I think they changed the neck shape too. The body went from the "swimming pool" pickup cavity to something closer to the way they used to be from the 50s thru the 70s. The tuning keys became staggered. Lastly I think they changed the material for the bridge.

I know I am a Zombie he he But thought I had to comment, probably to late now as U will have passed up on the strat. I played one today, and I am buying it tomorow, what a dream machine like, pure tone heaven with the S1 switching like, U could save up for a Gilmour, and I know the Gilmour will sound nice, but U pay into the name a bit as well, U will pay £1000 more for that guitar, and it aint £1000 better than a deluxe I am afraid, anyone that say different is talking bollocks, U can get a master build for another £1000 on top of that, if I was going to spend over £2000 on any guitar, it would have to be a master build, hey we are all different and that's fine, take a look at this little buty for £1000 more than a gilmour
