Trying to find a replacement trem arm for my 2002 Highway One Strat. The guitar is U.S. made, but I ordered a Fender U.S. replacement arm and it does not fit or thread in. It has the vintage style trem but not the narrow spacing like the MIM's. Any idea which kind of bar will fit this?

Hi jsims813,

If it has a US bridge block, it should take a US 10-32 threaded arm. Check to be sure that your bar has the 10-32 threads, and are you sure that the threads in the block are good?

Highway 1's don't have the American Vintage bridge. The first generation had MIM Classic/Deluxe bridges (same dimensions as the American Vintage but with a full-size zinc block). The first gen did use 10-32 arms.

The current Hwy 1's have a unique import bridge. The mounting screw spacing is the same as the American Vintage, but the string spacing is narrow like the MIM Stds.

I'm not sure what size arms the current Highway bridges use. But if the Am Std/Am Vintage 10-32 arm doesn't fit, it probably takes the MIM Std arm.

Thanks. I will have to check into that more. I wasn't sure if there was a difference between the Am Standard and Am Vintage arms or not. If they are the same then this one takes a different arm. Will try and get a MIM one and see if it fits. The block threads are ok, just lost the bar a while back.

The American Standard and American Vintage ReIssue arms both have 10-32 threads -- you can screw an AmStd into an AVRI bridge or an AVRI arm into an AmStd bridge. The two arms are bent/angled differently -- they're not identical, but they are interchangeable. So if one doesn't fit your trem, the other won't either.

Fender unfortunately uses several other sizes besides 10-32. There's 10-24, 5.5mm, and 6mm, maybe more.

Are there no Fender dealers or just decently well stocked guitar stores near you? All the stores I've been to have a variety of trem arms and would help you find the right size.

my bridge does have the 2 3/16 spacing on the strings and the mounting screws. The Am Std arm did not fit. Emailed Fender and they gave me part number 099-2310-100 which is a MIM bar so I guess that is what they used on the original ones. Another question, tried the Am Std bar I ordered in my 92 Lonestar strat and it doesn't fit that either. Has Fender used different sized bars in the Am Std guitars over the years?
