I just purchased a new SRV strat and I can't get any info on this serial number. US10224606. Can anyone help me ? I love this guitar, but want to know more. ALso, I think god himself made the srv neck. This is the best fender neck I have ever played, and I have played it all.
ALso, the high e is too close to edge of fretboard. Big deal to fix ?

Thanks !

Can't help with the serial but i have experienced your high E issue, although without a picture it is hard to say to what degree.
Have a look at my pic below and you will notice a gap between the neck and body at the low E side, which in turn made the high E go too close to the edge of the fretboard.

The fix for me was to looseden the x4 neck securing bolts (I slackened the strings first), then moved the neck slightly to close up the gap and then tightened the x4 screws again whilst still holding the neck in place.
Be sure not to over tighten your neck bolts however, just screwdriver tight NOT mighty Thor tight.

Hope this helps.

Yes, I'm about right there. I will give it a shot. Nice axe, btw. I'm a maple fan, and only play the srv as I like the feel.

SKIN ! I have the gap too. It was harder to see with the srv being black pickguard and sunburst, but its there. Nice work my friend. I'm going to adjust and report.

Make sure the saddles are tight together too.

Congrats on the purchase, I've had my SRV for about 7 years now and have loved every second of it.

Regarding the serial number - all the on-line sources haven't caught up with Fender's current serial number system. They dropped that "letter + digit" (where "N7" was "1997" or "Z5" was "2005") system at the start of 2010. The first 2010s just had a "10", then about April or May of last year they changed to ones that read "US10". I've just now been seeing guitars with "US11" serial numbers hit the store in the past couple of weeks (mostly the 60th Anniversary Teles).

Also when the new system started last year Fender stopped adding an "S" to the serial number on the Artist models. So while a 2009 SRV would have an "SZ9XXXXXX" serial number a 2010 would only have a "US10XXXXXX" (or maybe a "10XXXXXX" if it was made between January and April 2010). They also dropped the "D" from the American Deluxe serial numbers.

I decided not to risk it and just dropped off the srv at my local fender authorized shop in Omaha. It's now been 4 hours and I already miss her. What a great guitar. The srv strat neck is butter, and fender nailed it.

I put a business card in the space on the low e side of the neck to show them the gap as you had in your pic. Nice job. I think their guru already would have picked that up, but it's good that you helped. Many thanks

Oh, and rob, it was nice to talk to an insider. We users appreciate it. Fender is doing a great job, and what you have done to celebrate the life of the late Mr. Vaughan is fantastic.
