I bought this maple neck guitar just a few days ago and after cleaning it all up, I started looking carefully at the neck. The wood grain seems like there is no separate fingerboard. Is this possible? Yes, it has the skunk stripe, but I thought that since the mid 60's that the fingerboard was seperately built and glued on. If this is still a separate fingerboard, I'd sure like to shake the hand of Pablo or whoever did the work. I spent half an hour looking it over and trying to find some discontinuity in the woodgrain and could not.

It's a one piece neck, same as the 50's guitars. Fender went back to it sometime under CBS, I think it was the 70's.

Hey, thanks for that info. I had no idea going into this guitar that this was the case. Cool.

Another question that's probably easy to answer.....is the somewhat darkened finish a tint in the clear? I've been thinking of sanding the neck and doing the tru-oil/wax treatment to get a bare wood feel but if there's a tint, it makes no sense to do that.
