I heard rumours that there's a database on the net of all guitars made by fender containing all the specs relevant to the serial number that one enters in.

e.g.

You type in the s/n of: [ CY05106783 ]

then all the specs show up from the woods used in the neck, fret board & body, down to pickups used, tonal circuit boards, colour of the body, etc. of that specific guitar.

Is it a myth? Please help

Myth.

But if you e-mail your guitars S/N to consumerrelations@fender.com they will provide all that info to you.

"Does not exist"

"Myth"

Well you're both right:

1. A publicly available database on the net does not exist.

2. Fender Consumer Relations does have a database but it has limitations. I'm 95% sure it is only USA and MIM instruments, and I'm pretty sure they can only go back to 1993.

I don't believe that this provides all the detail that the OP is looking for.

Which is why I provided the Consumer Relations e-mail address in my post.

i checked out that http://guitardaterproject.org/fender.aspx site and it kept on telling me "Please ensure that you selected a Country of Manufacture." i got a 2005 squier bullet strat; they're are made in Japan right?

Those guitars aren't bad, but I'm using my these strat 1969 original pickups (i dunno what type of pickups they are) and the way it resonates in that cheap basswood is quite nice :)
Apparently it's basswood, or some laminated plywood.. It sounds good tho!

I just wanna look up the serial numbers to find out exactly what wood i'm using in my squier, and also the wood that those 69 pickups were originally in

I guess I'll e-mail customer relations.. Hopefully they can tell me a thing or two? or if anyone in the forum that is more knowledgeable than me could help? thanks!

You didn't say in your first post that you have a Squier. I doubt that Fender has records for Squier. Squiers have been made in Korea, Indonesia, probably Japan, and maybe India.

Then how could I find out what wood I'm using in my squier?
and I also want to find out what specs that strat has where those pickups came from. (i have that serial number)

Any links?

Surely Fender would know the woods used in 2005 squiers, even if it was made outside of the USA?

Try Fender consumer relations. Good luck.

Yeah, well, people "believe" a lot of things man. And the rest of us are simply in the know.
Just tryimg to help op anyway, to which you, have done nothing.

Reply "Myth", and then telling him "contact fender", yeah, because thats what we all want to hear when we have a question that we want answered, right? Because noone knows to just contact the maker of their guitar, right??

Useless.

You have been tremendously useless.

At least my link has given op a target destination, with information to help inform him on certain instruments quickly.

Not call Fender, wait on the line 45 minutes, and then get a response that the S/N is not in their database, and that they will need to see some pictures of the guitar, so they can get back to you in 2 or 3 days, with a response that mirrors something around.... "Well it LOOKS like", or "send it in for certified confirmation"...

We the people need FAST and ACCURATE responses. We DO NOT want to hear "contact manufacturer" from someone lazy enough to actually say it!! (and for a squire! None-the-less! not a 61 strat!!) For God's sake people, lets surf the net with op!!! HELP HIM IN THEIR *CURRENT* TIME OF NEED!!!

not 2-3 days later.. then and their, with them.

We all know we can contact the Manufacturer.. And we all know we hate that response.. Lets try to go in other directions first Fendonians. Lets get the job done.

CHEERS

I don't know who you think you are and neither do I care. For your information all the people that have asked this very same question have gotten very fast and more detailed results by e-mailing Fender Consumer Services than from Guitar Dater. I entered the SN of my 2009 MIM Standard Strat into Guitar Dater and got ...... nothing. I e-mailed Consumer Services and got a detailed description of where/when my Strat was built, detailed construction information, and details on all of the components. All within 24 hours. I guess that just isn't fast enough for all you know-it-alls who demand instant gratification in everything you do. In the end, it all boils down to one thing, and one thing only ..... you can bite me.

Your 2005 Squier is made of Basswood, and the original 1969 Strat pickups came from an Alder body as thats what Fender was using back then.

By the way, if you had bothered to read the OP's post instead of trying to prove your manhood (which you failed, big time), you would have seen that Guitar Dater was useless and returned no info to the OP. So much for your expert advice.
