I played one when they first came out and I have to admit it sounded really good. Who owns and is it worth the money...or is it just a gimick?

I think I still want one... :?

There's another thread on the subject which appeared in '09 when the line was discontinued. You can do a search on it for the chit-chat which went down then. I, and another member own the Guitar Center's FSR VG Deluxe which was released in the summer of '08. They were done in an Aged Cherry Sunburst with a vintage tinted V-neck, medium jumbo frets, locking tuners and SCN pickups. Definitely not a gimmick. Guitar has lots of possibilities musically and I was glad to get my hands on one of those.

I used to have one, it was a really nice guitar but over time I became bored with it. So I traded it in but, every once in a while I miss it.

I had the chance to buy one right before the end, when GC was discounting them heavily to get rid of them. I got a call from my man at GC, but I waited a day too long to get back to the store. The last was gone and I haven't seen one since. Dang.

I always thought they could be a great utility guitar I could envision using this as your back-up so you could get by with only 2 guitars for a cover band gig. You take your #1 guitar for most of the standard 6-string electric stuff and you could use the VG to cover acoustic/alternate tunings and also use it as a backup if you broke a string, etc.
