I'm watching the Strat 50th Anniversary Concert from 2004 and something caught my eye.

Everyone has their own idea of what a Strat/Tele should look and sound like. You can make these guitar truely unique to your taste.

I myself have Several Strats and Teles and all but one are something different (see list below).

1.The '62 copy has a compound radius, locking tuning keys, mid-jumbo frets, tortisshell pick guard and Texas Spec. Pickups.

2.The Andy Tele is pretty muck set up like Andy Summers' Tele that he used with The Police.

3. My 50th Anniversary Am. Series Strat sports a peroid pick guard.

4. The Clapton Strat is well, a Clapton Strat. Enough said.

5. The HWY1 is a Black Body, Maple neck and all black parts. Very late '70s looking.

You can do anything you like with a Strat or Tele and it's not wrong, it's personal. Just the way Leo Fender wanted it.

Tell me about your modified mongrals.

My only mods are pup changes for my American strat plus. I swapped the lace sensors it came with for Texas Specials. I had swapped pick gaurds but went back to the stock. Natural finish ash body with maple neck and fretboard with schaller locking tuners and LSR nut. Me likey, but it was and still is my first true Fender Strat.

Also threw 57 classics in my 1960 Classic LP, but that's another forum, correct? :D

I used to own an '87 Strat Plus. I foolish sold it. I ended up building the '62 to replace the look and feel of it. I went with the Texas Specials. The body is stained a golden brown and breaths very well. It's a great sounding guitar.

Oh, you're trying to make my life difficult with this thread, aren't you? haha My mim fat strat is stock at the moment, but I'm thinking that it's nice enough that maybe it deserves an upgrade. That would be to remove the finish on the neck and fingerboard and use 2 quick coats on for 45 seconds of tru-oil. The result would be a "bare wood" feel but still have protection. Musicman, Peavey and EVH guitars are all finished that way. Hmmmmm.....as if I don't have enough projects.......
