Why does everyone like Ernie Ball strings? Because they're cheap?

Not really. Ernie Ball Slinky's just last and last and last.... 8)

I've tried Dean Markley.
I've tried D'Addario.
I've tried Ernie Ball.
I've tried DR.
I've tried GHS Boomers.
I've tried {insert another brand here}...

And yet, in my humble opinion, D'Addario and Ernie Ball are the top two strings that sound great and seem to last. Ernie Ball gets the edge over D'Addario though, as Ernie Ball's last just a tad longer.

My favorite brand is the one that's on sale ...

These days I'm using 10's.

I don't know if this has been asked before (probably has...) but I figured I'd ask anyway.

Out of all the 900,000 string manufacturers and the variety of guages, what brand do you always use on your Strat?

For me... I always use these:

I love Ernie Ball Regular Slinky's 10-46, they always sound great! 8)

+1

Ernie 10's go on all my strats.
I use D'Addario 11's or 12's on my tele though. They seem to feel like the Ernie 10's in terms of playability cause D'addarios seem to always bend easier.

Totally agree. D'Addarios, I am convinced, bend easier than Ernie's though. so there's a little trade off.

Hmmm... Yeah, I think Rossfloss made a great point here. Maybe I'll play around with some D'Addario 10-46's next time around and see.

see, thats why we have more than 1 guitar butch, so we can do side by side comparisons on strings when we need to.

Either Ernie Ball's or D'Addario's. I prefer the way the EB's are packaged, I like the colored ends on the DA's esp. on top loaders where they are visible. Seems like EB 9's end up on the Strats, while DA 10's go on the Teles. It takes a better player than me to tell any difference between the different brands playability and durability.

I use Regular SLinkys on my Strats, HYbrid SLinkys on my Teles and, like Tepidy, DR Pure Blues on the rest.
Actually tried Ernie Ball Acoustics ecently too and they were nice.

Man I wonder how much I have spent on strings in the last 20 years..............probably more than I've spent on the rest of my gear.........

Does Ernie Ball do a loyalty scheme?? Every other company that you sepnd so regularly with do.................

YUp over here, if we have a loyalty scheme, it means for every 'x' amount of £s you spend you get 'y' amount of points and once you have enough you can place the face value of them against other things.

Actually, I think D'addario did it for a while where you could collect tokens in each pack of strings to go against merchandise.

A bit like the old cigarette cards that could be traded for stuff.

I would have assumed that the States were probably the instigaters of such schemes what with the consumeristic society you have over there........buy so much of something to get something else..........
