i havent been here in a while. ive been practicing like mad so i can stop being so bad at my instrument :D ive also been studying up on theory and my rig info so i can get stuff done.

lately ive been spending more and more time at the local music shop playing guitars and amps.

i will be purchasing a JCM 800 Custom Made from ceriatone. it will have a less-treble mod to give it darker voicing, an effects loop built right in and more gain added. itll sound halfway like a marshall, but look nothing like one. it will have its own cabinet and things to make it not look like a marshall (im sick of seeing all these marshalls and les pauls everywhere). ive been playing vintage modifieds and 2000's with other amps, and im mixing all my favorite amps together in one god of an amp.

so, my main slinger is a strat currently, and it will need new pickups. i love metal, thrash, cheese, heavy, prog... anything thats not poser or screaming. but i also love classic rock and the blues... so i need something that has good clarity. i want something at least humcancelling in the bridge, the neck and middle can be whatever... i want the bridge to be single coil sized too.

i was thinking of SD HotStack - SSL-1 - SSL-3... what do you guys think? help me find combos that you think would work for me.

im also looking at purchasing a standard tele in the near future after the purchase of the amplifier. i was just thinking of a HotStack Tele - Vintage Tele Lipstick... what do you guys think?

thanks!

Well, there is a guy up here in Sonora who winds his own pickups and markets them, and, I hate to admit, they're better than most of the major retailers who are supposed to be top-o'-the-line. I'll get some info, and post it for you! This guy's stuff is impressive!

Great to see you around here again! (For those who don't know, Arlabester was the first to submit a post here -- it already seems like it was an eternity ago!)
