Yes, they are required to fit vintage type tuners in the 10 mm holes in the MIM headstock.

Thanks for the reply, so the pegholes are 10 mm on my guitar? And the hex bushings are the correct ones right? Or is it just for looks?

StewMac sells round ones also. Use those with the vintage type tuners.

I have Schaller locking tuners on my MIM Standard Strat. They are the kind with the little tab on them that requires one screw. There is also a Fender verson that is a straight drop-in replacement.

If anybody is interested I took this thing apart tonight and it has a swimming pool route and the ears on the neck route. The routes are full of compound and overspray. There was a piece of tape in the pup route still. There still a big dull spot under the pickguard where they just quit buffing I guess. Not impressed so far.

Everything but the pups and tuners will be here Monday. Still haven't decided on tuners for sure, I took out one of the stock ones and it "felt" and looked fairly decent quality.. We'll see whether nickel is important enough or not.

After further inspection it appears that the nut is chipped around the first string. Can I buy another nut built to drop in? Or do I have to get crazy for this lil project? I'd rather not..Thanks, Guy

A few months ago a guy could post a pic of vegamite and this place would blow up.. Where is everybody? I haven't been here much in a while but this it seems a bit of a dead zone round here lately.
