Alain, didn't you once own a Mexican Marvin?

I believe this to be mis-represented.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Hank-Marvin-Signature-Stratocaster-/330557512234?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&hash=item4cf6c35a2a

Notice the black Fender font on the logo. Also the Squier tuners and saddles?

I believe this to be a Fender Squier series Strat. Much like mine except red.
Here's mine as it was, the white one.

Heres the headstock

The only differences being that the OP removed the 'Squier Series' decal and had it signed by Hank.
I'll give £100 for it, I'm not really interested in a Hank Marvin autograph.

So it's the same thing then, only different?

Nearly, kind of mate. Depends on your definition of the same thing. It's a Mexican Strat with Hank Marvin's signature on it. Not a Fender Mexico Hank Marvin Signature Strat thats one of three hundred.

Does that make sense? I'm tired and have just had a argument with a TV director from the 70's. I don't know the difference between my rear end and Wednesday at the moment. :?

Nik, there was a Squier mexican marvin from the time period of the ad.

You might be confusing it with the Fender Mexico run a bit later, called the 'Fender Marvin Classic' or something like that, that is easily distinguished by the easy-Mute trem arm:

That wasn't labeled Fender though. It was labeled as Squier.

Alain is the man to ask about all this stuff. He proved my suspicion (that he browses the web for Shads memorabilia) right.
I remember a limited run of 100 odd (not exact) CustomShop that Hank didn't authorize. Then the Hank B Marvin tributes that were of a limited number. As far as the mexican guitars went. I think they stopped when people stopped buying them.

We need Alain's educated input on this. Not my guessing. Do you Twelvebar see something covering the autograph? Maybe that it was intentionaly put under the clearcoat at the factory? Your eye for that detail is galaxy's above mine.

Nik i can't really tell if that signature is on the color coat, or over the clear coat.
As far as I know the signatures were on the headstocks of the models i know anything about. But I honestly don't know a lot about them. If they did the signature on the color coat and then cleared over it, that would be a very unique run for a signature series.
Maybe Alain would know about this. he is the go to guy for all things hank.
