Pics are great, but ...... and I think we can all agree on this....Strats are meant to be PLAYED and HEARD!!

So being a newbie here I thought I'd contribute & float the idea of this thread being a place to post your vid clips of you and your Strat(s) in action....cos that's why we have 'em and love 'em! :D

So c'mon guys - post those vid clips - anything with your Strat plugged in and wailing counts!

Rich :D

(And if you & the moderators like the idea - maybe this could be a sticky that oldies & newbies can see & post to as & when they have some vids available?)

I doubt if Brad would agree adding an "embed video" option allowing users to post YouTube videos on the forums. But it's quite a nice idea.

PS: Not only Strats. Teles, Precisions, Jazzes and other Fender/Squier stuff.

I just meant links eg to you-tube clips, not embedded.

Very nice Rich - and thanks for being the first vid poster! :D I also loved your other 'Trower' vid with the Dejavibe....all lovely stuff. What amp were you using?

The reverse head stock seems somewhat 'odd' on a right-hand Strat so I was just wondering why Fender came out with that? Was it for Hendrix fans and purely aesthetic, or is there actually a difference in how the guitar plays?

Thank you!
My amp is a Fender Hot Rod DeVille 4x10.
The model Strat I'm playing is a MIM Fender 60's Reverse Special that was available a few years back...no more though.
Musician's Friend blew them out at insane prices I'm told.
The guitar itself is a well built toneful piece of wood...but the pickups totally sucked!
After replacing them with the aforementioned stuff...this is now one kick butt axe!!

I get compliments all the time about the reversed headstock....and yes...I believe that it was marketed towards the Hendrix loving person.
Don't you remember the much more expensive VooDoo Strat about 10 years back?
I will put my modified MIM up against one of those any day of the week!

Actually I'm looking to replace the neck on this guitar. It has a 7.5 radius neck. I'd like to get a lefty Highway One Strat neck which has a 9.5 radius that I'm more comfortable with. You wouldn't happen to know where i can get one do you?
ANYONE?

rabmag - Great song and really liked your tone & playing - kind of like Hendrix meets Robin Trower meets Jeff Beck! :D

Cookieman - very sweet laid-back playing and a great example of how 'less is more'. And that's a nice looking strat too! :D

HWY1Man - just noticed that the bridge p/up is aligned-reversed too. So more than just aesthetic, there is actually some tonal difference akin to Hendrix using a right-hand strat played left handed. Interesting.

As I started this, I thought it only fair to contribute a couple of my own modest efforts:

'Little Wing intro' - This one was the very first vid I ever put up on you tube with my '69 hardtail strat, using just a cheap kodak camera:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rDlSyYxgkp0&fmt=18

'Cocaine' - My '69 Strat in action again, this time at a live gig that my wife recorded 6 yrs ago (- not because of me I hasten to add, but because it was my daughter's very first gig with us when she was only 15!)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SSu60NbnpTU

As you can see it was a real bonafide gigging guitar but it's now just got too valuable to take out to gigs anymore, which is why I got my 2009 Limited Edition Daphne Blue US Standard Strat.

Rich

FenderFlameStrat - that was great, but I thought your other vid was incredible & I just had to post that link too!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lBYP0y09 ... ideo_title

Standing up & playing a complex medley like that all on your own with no backing track in your first public solo outing is daunting enough for anyone - but for someone who's only been playing 8 months it's incredible!! Fabulous stuff! :D
