I have recently modded my American Strat to have an interchangeable pickguard assembly. I have the SCN's which I love, and I also have EMG DG-20's which I also love...Couldn't really pick between one so I decided to keep both.

Anyways, what I did was cut the wires going from each pickguard assembly and attached female disconnect terminals to the wires (If you don't know what those are, follow the link below for an image).

http://www.electric-elite.com/terminals/terminals8.htm

Then I attached the male counterpart of the terminals to the Strat's wires...this way I can actually change my pickup configuration in about 10 minutes without removing the strings (Just loosen them enough to pull the pickguard assembly out) and snap the other wires into place an your good.

So my question is does anyone know if I am losing any sound quality by doing this? I can not tell a difference in sound whatsoever, but then again mayb I'm just used to it.

That oughta be fine... It shouldn't cause any measurable or audible difference in the output.

thats a really cool idea. its kinda like the quick connect emg pickups.

i wish more companies did this, cause then it wouldnt be a big deal to change pickups, and everybody could do it easily.

Thats exactly why I did it.
It just never made sense to me why I would need 2 completely different guitars just for 2 different sets of pickups..

I've had it set up like that for about a year and I've changed them back and forth about 50 times now...no problems whatsoever...
