Hi guys! how are you? i hope you're well. Today i bought a brand new American Standard from a seller who bought it in Guitar Center, im from Argentina. The guitar sounds and plays beautifully, it's a gem and i really like the new features of the 2008 upgrade, but i have a little doubt about the serial number: it'll start with the "10" (the entire serial number is 10031373) prefix and no letter at all (i have seen some 2010 with the "US" prefix).

The guitar has the 22 frets, 2 point tremolo, delta tone, etc. it's Olympic White with rosewood fretboard and has the original case with the check paper, etc. but i would like to know what's the deal with this prefix to know if my guitar is authentic.

Thank you in advance and best regards!

I thought they brought the Delta-Tone in around 2008 but I'm far and away no expert on Fender Strat's.

I know my 2008 starts with a Z8

Also, the serial numbering conventions for Fender instruments built in the United States and Mexico changed not once but twice for 2010 and onward. These are:

Serial numbers that begins with 10, followed by a space and then several other digits. This system was quickly replaced by a second convention, although instruments bearing these designations were produced for a few months in late 2009 and early 2010.

Serial numbers that begin with “US” and “MX,” followed by two digits that denote the year and then several other digits, thus denoting the country of origin and the model year (a serial number starting with “US12,” for example, would describe a U.S.-made instrument built in 2012; “MX10” would describe an instrument built in Mexico in 2010).

From Fender page, i guess this mystery is solved?

Do what I did. I emailed the serial numbers of my two MIM Strats to
Customerrelations@fender.com
They emailed me back all of the information they had on both my Strats quickly
Post some pictures if you can

Oskar555: You continue to provide the wrong e-mail address. The correct e-mail address is:

consumerrelations@fender.com

It can be found here:

Guys, i have a little doubt more, it's really silly, but i noticed that in my headstock it says "Made in U S A" instead of the " Made in U. S. A.", i mean my strat doesn't have the "." in between the letters, this could be cause the guitar is made in 2009, but it's that correct? could someone with a 2008/2009 american standard strat check this in his own headstock please?

I know maybe i'm a lil bit paranoid, but this is my first brand new stratocaster and i want to be 100% sure of what i bought.

Thank you very much and i'm really sorry to bother you with my silly questions.

Edit: I emailed Fender but i think they'll take a few days to answer (if they answer), so any help here? i'm pretty sure that the guitar is totally legit (i mean, it was bought as new in GC) but i have this doubt about the dots in between the U S A, mine hasn't any dots.

You've already been asked to post photos once. If you want more detailed help, you need to post photos.

Thanks for posting the photos; looks like a legit early 2010 American Standard Strat. Nothing to worry about; as others have said Fender used serial numbers that started with just a "10" for the first few months of 2010; they switched to using the "US10" after a few months (I recall seeing ones with a "US10" serial number in stores as early as May of last year).

If nobody has replied, I'll check my 2008 American Strat tonight. I have a feeling Fender isn't consistent with things like dots in "USA" across years though. In other words, it won't be conclusive. Maybe.

That guitar looks 100% legit to me. I'd stop worrying about it and start enjoying it for a long time to come!
