I sold my AVRI today. Gotta ship it to Georgia in the morning. I hate to see it go. But I decided that instead of having the neck customized for my tastes I would just sell it and find another just like it with the neck specs I want. It will have to be a Custom Shop I think. I've seen one or two on e-bay. White/blonde transluscent ash body '57 with modern radius and 6105 frets and the soft-V. That's what I'm lookin for. I just have to come up with about $1500 more dollars.
I still have my blizzard of pearl Am Standard with the TS in it. It's not going anywhere.

Isn't that almost always the case, sad to see 'em go? I still get a little sad about nearly everyone that I let go, some more than others ('54 Custom Classic Blond, w/ birds-eye maple neck :( ). BTW, that white blond is a great color, one of my favorites. I hope that you get the one that you want, it will ease the pain of letting this one go. Many times I'm a little happier thinking that at least someone else will enjoy it. I also have a Blizzard Pearl Am Std, beautiful color.

I know how you feel.I recently sent my MIA Standard in Charcoal Frost Metallic packing via CL.As much as I tried to love it, I hated the Modern C neck.I have 2 others that I love and could live without it.

I hear you about the modern C neck! I got rid of my American Standard for that same reason. Traded it in for an American Vintage '57 Reissue.

So many of the strats are Modern C that its hard to find a different neck in stock at any of the guitar shops around here. I find that i prefer chunkier necks and 6105 frets . I have a SRV that I bought in 06 and a 59 thinskin with a SRV type neck and couldnt be happier.I wish Fender would offer more neck options on some of their MIA Standards , but oh well.

Yeah the white blonde is my favorite color. I never could find the body joint in the one I just sold, It's possible it was a one piece body. One reason I didn't want to sell it. I know there's alot of different opinions about one piece bodies and I've concluded that it doesn't really matter much to me so long as the guitar sounds good. But If that one was a one piece then it's kind of more unique than some of the others. It's just sorda rare to find one on a production strat. But it's possible the pieces were matched so well that the joint is just not noticeable.
I can't wait to get the one I've been wanting. I feel like a kid looking forward to Christmas.

Its always sad when you let one go. I would never sell my 82 '57 Vintage reissue...yeah it would be great if it had a nice V neck, but the tone is near perfect and it is worn in real nice after all these years, so it is a keeper...maybe a pic will help you get over it...

Enjoy :!:

I've let a few get away, some many years ago, and I'm still not over them - who needs to make house payments anyway..? Nowadays, as I get older, I tend to hang onto them a little harder.

I know. I really didn't ever get along with it. That particular color is just so sharp looking. I think the color and look of it is the only reason I kept it as long as I did. But I would rather have a beat up ugly one that plays great than to have a nice looking one that I don't like to play.

Why don't you buy all the pieces you want in a guitar, and put it together yourself? That's what I'm doing. I never could find a strat with all the specs I wanted.

I was considering doing that too and I may still do it eventually. But Necks are pretty expensive to purchase if they're genuine "Fender". For the money I would have had tied up in the AVRI by the time I was done getting the neck I wanted, I could have bought a Custom Shop. So I decided to sell it and get a Custom Shop in the same color with the neck specs I want.
So what is it you are building? I mean, is it a Strat? What color? 50's? 60's? Just curious. How far along is it? Can we see a pic?

Yeah same here. I was looking at an old Frontline catalog from '04 the other day and noticed that some models......I think the old Classic Player and maybe another MIM model....can't remember which right off...were available with C or V necks. Of course now the Classic Player has morphed into a whole series of instruments and that other guitar I think is discontinued. The only way to get a V shaped neck is to go with a '50's reissue or the American Deluxe V neck.

I really like those 6105 frets too.

With all Fender parts, you might be better to buy a CS. I'm almost building a Strat. I have the parts, just haven't started. I am not buying Fender parts. I'm using a Warmoth neck; boatneck, maple/Indian rosewood, abalone markers, jumbo stainless frets, an ebay ash sss body, ebay electronics, and cs-69 Fender pickups. I'm using golden oak danish oil on the body and neck, then lacquer on the neck. Wilkinson V100 trem. I'm going for easy and relatively cheap. A pic now would just be a pile of parts. :) Good luck on yours.
