I have been thinking for a long time to try to load my korean strat with 2 humbukers from my epiphone SG or just buy some more brand new.

What do you think about this and would it be a good idea, especially if i can get a blanked scatch plate and ask for the holes to be cut fresh.

Help me out here before i ruin 2 great instruments, my sg is new and my strat is nearly 20 years old. :P  8) :D :o  :!:

I can't see going to all the trouble of taking the pups out of a new SG and wrecking a strat to fit em in it. You'd still just have a two humbucker guitar, maybe a little brighter sounding, but still just a two humbucker guitar. You already had one to start with.

modification on a 20 year old strat might make it lost it's value.
Fender do offer double humbucker strats which was discontinued about 1 year ago, maybe you can still get it in the guitar store or somewhere...

the guitar would be strange, but the sound would be very, very good.

Have you done that or heard one before?

Don't bother, Epis rock, and that 80's strat is better off left alone.

Hey, there's nothing wrong with buying a new guitar. If I was going to get a new dual humbucker guitar, I'd probably look into a '72 Tele reissue. That, or I'd pickup another Ibanez SZ, they're probably going to be on clearance soon, they were discontinued.

I played a J5 Triple Tele Deluxe at the music store the other day and was amazed. It's got 3, count em', 3 humbuckers. It was awesome! Had more bite than the Epi LP! I would strongly suggest finding this guitar somewhere and give it a try. Amazing, especially if you're trying to get a Tele to sound angry!

Agreed, I don't really see the point in doing this mod. It is your guitar, so do what you want, but I wouldn't :?
