Hot muck! I forgot about that! I am in! Ha! Who would've thought! Andy, if we pull together we can stop him from making a truly ghastly tasting instrument!

Have fun Ceri. I know you'll do a great job. You know those tiles by first name now. It will turn out great!

Just got back from work, these bids have escalated quickly.

I'm willing to offer 3 uncooked chicken kebab skewers, 3 twix sticks, a woolen multicoloured bobble hat, and as a grand finale.....

An unopened plastic sealed bag which contains a jigsaw, I woke up one morning and I was in my friends bed, who wasnt there, and this bag of jigsaw. We don't have the box so we don't even know what it's supposed to make....a mystery jigsaw...

Now surely thats intriguing enough.

I'll even throw in P&P

You're going to mail 3 uncooked chicken skewers? I find that positively shocking! Do they come with added Salmonella? ;)

And moreover: 3 Twix sticks? 3? I didn't know that was mathematically possible! This world never ceases to amaze me! Good one....

Now I'm pretty sure the woolen hat might be an incentive... 8)

Anyone else in for some heavy power bidding / household clearout? This is such fun!

The salmonella is the added bonus, I'm sure Mr Ceri can find a use for it in his secret Mi6 spy work, surely...

Oh and as for 3 twix sticks, I'm gonna eat the 4th to make sure its possible, consider it me testing it for poison, I wouldn't want our master builder falling sick on the job now would I...

Now for the main event, I have a one piece giraffe outfit, perfect for jungle blending, being inconspicuous on safaris and being incredibly comfy whilst playing guitars in the house...I MAY give this up if the bidding escalates, but for now I'm keeping it in my locker

don't you just love this place :)

[A while later Ceri stumbles his way back up the stairs from the basement, where he's been messily involved in laying a new, expensive and amazingly problematic limestone floor...]

I've been turning this thread around in my mind and you know what? Just hold on one cotton picking moment:

Is it me, or has the forum gotten more and more nasty in the comment sections? I used to come to this forum all the time because It was one of the few that wasnt populated with12-16 year olds who; while they had no idea what they were talking about 80% of the time, had no problem being punks to people who put posts up. Now; this forum has seemed to join their ranks, too bad.

In addition to the extreme friendlinesses mentioned a few posts back from AndyBigHair and The_Nutter, I'm now thinking about the many amazing generosities, material and spiritual, I've personally received from Forum user Nikininja; I'm remembering dining and drinking in New York with ZZDoc; I'm recalling both Gratz and Snowy sending me - completely unsolicited - pickups for guitar projects; an astonishing bag of goodies I had the pleasure of receiving from Mr RussianRacehorse; I'm thinking about all the thoughtful and uplifting interaction I have via email and other methods with people I met here - too numerous to list: and I'm also calling to mind all the other comparable friendship and kindness I've heard about other Forum users here pointing at one another over the years. All of this is from people I didn't know before this Forum.

Windwalker9649: I think you have it wrong. I think there are a bunch of mighty good and fine people here. I think you need to stick around more, get real and friendly with us all and see where it leads. If there are one or two tiresome characters now and again pay them no heed and concentrate on all the really cool, nice, decent individuals here - and everywhere else in life too.

Them's my feelings! :D

Cheers guys - C

Well said, Ceri. Add to that the notion that the forum needs good friendly folks to survive in a good way. And there you have your recipe: If more friendly than unfriendly elements are added and participate in a society, chances are things turn out for the better.

So on this note: Engage!

I'm on fire today! :D

I for one like the turn this thread took.

Ceri,

I have most always enjoyed my time here on these forums. By in large I think most everyone is very nice. And I might take this time to say, you have in particular be very helpful and forthcoming with assistance to my "newbie" questions, and I thank you.

However, sometimes things get out of hand on these forums. Some topics seem to bring out the knives, and it seems there is no bringing civililty to the floor.

Now we all throw "wild pitches" from time to time, saying things "off the cuff" that we should have held back, and I am not speaking to that. This forum compared to others is so much more civil. Yet general nastiness and disrespect does happen here, more than should be tolerated.

I try to respect people in my day to day life, no matter who or where. Being rised in the deep south of the U.S. we were (I was) taught "yes sir" "no sir" "yes mam" "no mam" With until someone finishes talking before you answer....all forms of common respect. I still carry that with me even I am much older now. I am a pretty easy going person and will let a lot "slide" and let it go, but as I also respect myself, and sometimes by God and General Lee the rod of correction comes down.

I would not discount Windwalkers observations out of hand, even though this forum is much more civil than most others, I think there is room for improvement.

Hi oneal: I'd never want to discount anyone's views out of hand and if that was the impression I gave then I immediately apologise whole-heartedly.

I'd intended the opening line, "just one cotton picking moment", to be so ornate as to indicate that the rest of the post was intended in the same good humored spirit that we've all been carrying on in for the previous few pages. And I trust Windwalker - and anyone else - noted the closing sentences; hoping he'd stick around and enjoy the fine and friendly company here.

There is a serious point, though. In many situations in life our attention focuses on the one or two people being loud and nasty and we forget that there is also a big bunch who are not behaving that way. Once again, (in a smiling, happy, friendly spirit) I'd suggest the good far outweighs the bad in this place - and that the good is often very good indeed.

So then to all, a friendly

Cheers - C

I think that you need to have a bit of thick skin and a tad of a sense of
humor when posting anything on the interwebs. There is a wealth of knowledge on here
and sometimes the occasional troll slips in, but finds out the welcome mat
isn't there.

Hold this thought - - while you're supposed to be working, but are
posting here instead...the folks at Fender are watching these threads on wide
screen HD displays (instead of working). :D

Just kidding, of course!
