[quote="AndybighairThe "A" string transducer saddle has stopped working.

Rather than have to try and source a replacement I'm going to perform "Open Saddle Surgery". Worth noting here that I'm not afraid of killing the patient.... as its already dead....

Interesting... As you can see above there's not a great deal going on inside the transducer housing, but I believe I've ascertained the problem...

The wire should be securely attached to the top part of the transducer housing... and its not.

Andy, How do you like that guitar? I have thought about buying one more than once (great job fixing it too, even if it isn't about beer, it is still on topic!) Does the midi really trigger well and will it trigger several strings in succession quickly?

Dude, they're awesome guitars mate. I use it with a Roland GR20 and the tracking is pretty spot on to my ears. The build quality of those guitars is outstanding. Obviously try before you buy, but I'll bet you a cold beer that you'll end up buying it. :D

If you do buy it and one of the saddles dies you know where to send it.

Now about beer. I guess I would go to pappawookee and say I agree. Also I agree with Niki about the pale ale weak stuff, I think the only way to get that down would be by having it be very cold. I have never been much of a beer drinker, but when I did indulge it was always the cool, dark European imports I went for. British and German, and even Czech (who claim the fame on beer). But warm.....ummmm, sounds nasty. But it has to do with what we grew up with.

If its Ale or Bitter I take it at room temperature, but if its fizzy larger then its got to be as cold as it can with out freezing.

The weather over here has been unseasonally warm and I've been favouring a nice cold bottle of Grolsch to help balance that out!

Enjoy!

I have to say that I do not even know what Marmite or Vegemite is and from reading these posts I don't think I want to know either. Same goes for hog jowls, grits, fiddleheads and black eyed peas. Never tried 'em. Don't wanna.

The title of this thread is what attracted my attention but reading it has provided a few chuckles as well.

I come and go from this forum as my work schedule dictates that from time to time I am placed in outback areas without internet access. I've recently returned from such an adventure and found that a tongue in cheek post I made (which included several wink emoticons to indicate my jocular intent) was completely taken out of context and was trashed repeatedly as if I had committed some unforgivable sin. The OP is quite correct in pointing out that these once rare occurrances are popping up more frequently. Unfortunately it is a trend which I have seen on several occaisions in the past. A forum begins with good natured members and begins to grow, eventually attracting flamers and punks and ne'er-do-wells. This will get worse before it gets better if the history of forums that have gone before are any indication. What we need is a little more self-police activity. While these disturbances are still reasonably rare there are nevertheless too many which have gone ignored by the senior members. I loathe the idea of interfering with freedom of expression but if we do not police ourselves we can look forward to FMIC stepping in with control measures we may not like very much. This is their site. If they start hearing about it we'll definitely hear about it.

Food for thought.

Well, I have nothing worthwhile to add to this conversation, but I've never let that stop me before:

I must say I enjoy some of the local brewers in the south- Monteiths Summer Ale, Speights.. My prefered is Steinlager, which has a very nasty tendancy to issue a very sore throbbing head the next day. Which is why I drink it
Marmite or Vegemite- marmite has a more mellow taste over Vegemite- but I love 'em both. I have jars a plenty in my cupboard. Everytime I make toast, it mostly allways is Vegemite with a slice of cheese, and a hot cup of Milo. Down here, if you dont like either- there has to be something clearly wrong with you. Even for liking Vegemite over Marmite (which is just as good really)- I am labeled a traitor :? Get it in yer, mate

Oh and on the topic, never hear from mr. 789 lately- I guess he has been pre-occupied with his son's grand wedding of late.

Thanks for the kind comments from you early on in the thread there Nik  :) Much obliged :)

Hehehe!

Maybe because we "socked" the crap out of his last thread.

That's a hilarious way to deal with a dud thread and a fine example of self policing the forum. :D

Short of giving a spoiled brat a good verbal thrashing, sometimes just ignoring them finds them eventually gone. Those of good will continue to remain, as you have shown by example.

I do think Strat789's thread was a masterpiece in self policing. A model for problem post calming. Just chat rubbish about nothing whilst the antagonist screams for someone to take notice of them.

Give em socks!

I thought this was a stratacaster forum not a complaint forum but sinces the subject is coming up I just want to say one thing no mature what you do in life do not waste your time on people who are unintelegent and ignorent to the true intent on the forum. A true musician injoyes all forms of music because even the worst or newest guitar player can add to your knowledge. I can take something away from all types of music because they will always show me something I never thought of. oh do not give power to the angry or less educated. talking about it only feeds there ego.

You're obviously in the right place, thus we bid you welcome. Don't be surprised at the twists and turns some of these threads take. You will come to learn that many of us, though seemingly far afield, have become close friends, and have even enjoyed the opportunity of knocking down a beer or two, face to face, when circumstances have made it geographically possible. Many of us interface on FB as well, so there's another community we share. Hang out. You're in for quite a 'taking something away' time.

Doc

I wonder how you and your mates would deal with the delicacy known as 'shmaltz', which is rendered chicken fat, used in a fashion not unlike your Vegemite/Marmite spread. It's a favorite of the culture into which I was born but, quite honestly, the thought of it makes me barf. However, delicately sliced pieces of Nova Scotia salmon aka 'lox', lifted on a bagel carrying bed of chive cream cheese is to die for.

I read a lot of this thread: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=52144 Wow that was interesting. Now I need to show some one my socks, i guess, to fit in (peer pressure is on!) 8) 8)

To Niki: How did your buzzard fuzz weekend building go anyhow?

Great to see you Blertles, had not see you on the Forum for a while. Glad you added something from Kiwiland about this very important topic!

And ZZ, my dr friend was here yesterday looking at volcanoes with me and giving the "low down" man....

Beer and Marmite, they are related you know? Cousins I think.....

Sorry for the long silence lads and ladies, I was happily preoccupied! :D

Andy, great work! Thanks for putting some of your soldering magic on the forum! My knees are still a bit wobbly from looking at that Godin's circuitry! :)

Well, let summer, sun and tasty frothing drinks come! (Obviously I apologise to OZ members. Is it getting cold down under yet? As J. Hendrix used to sing: "There's a red house down under... That's where my baby stays!")

Anyhoo. Have fun. 8)
