HI I just bought an American standard strat. Would like to ask if leaving the guitar strap on while its in the guitar hardcase (skb) will damage it?

The Am Std's have a urethane finish -- it's unlikely to be affected by a strap, either leather or synthetic. Be mindful of any hardware though (sliders, keepers, decorations, etc). They can scratch or mar the clearcoat.
